Norman Lykes House: Phoenix, Arizona
Up in the hills north of town is the Phoenix equivalent of the Hollywood Hills. There are a lot of very beautiful and expensive homes that are perched on a hillside. Though they don’t have the tree cover available in Southern California, they are still very scenic, if not private. By far the best of them all is the Norman Lykes house.
Perfectly at home in its environment.
The only thing that isn’t the greatest about this home is that the people down the valley didn’t put as much care into building their own homes. Their driveways and garages really detract from the view. With a little more care in their design and finish, they could have a home that was as beautiful as the view they see from their windows. I thought about getting a job for the weekend with the landscaping service that works for the owners just so I could walk around the grounds more. We restricted our violations of privacy to snapping two photos from the road.
