Right across the street from the Furbeck house is the Cheney.  Built in 1903, it is a compact, single story bungalo with a lot of garden space out front.  While designing this home for the Cheneys, Wright met and fell in love with Mrs. Mamah Borthwick Cheney.   They eventually ran off to Europe together, leaving their respective families behind.  The rest is history…

The home was renovated in the mid 1960’s to repair fire damage from two separate fires.  It was also renovated in 1990.
