This building defintely stands out in a cemetary.
This building was built in 1906 as a memorial to Mr. Pettit by his wife Emma. The great thing about the Pettit Chapel is that you can drive up and see it almost any time. The day I was there, I was the only person around. As you would imagine, the landscaping in this cemetary is very good. The building was renovated in the 1980s and is still in perfect shape.
The low-hipped roof covers two big porches.
I drove into Geneva after heading North from Springfield, Illinois that morning. I’d seen 11 Wright homes as I zig zagged across the state that day. It was very cool to be able to relax and walk around the chapel. I got to sit on the steps and relax a bit before heading on to Rockford.
This shows the sanctuary end of the chapel.
Sorry. I had to take a photo of my car with the Pettit Chapel.
