Floor & Decor Reviews: What 1,065 Customer Reviews Say

Is Floor & Decor worth it? Mixed. Across 1,065 customer reviews, shoppers praise the in-stock selection and prices, but complaints about customer service, delivery, returns and damaged product far outnumber the praise.

Is Floor & Decor Worth It? The Verdict Up Front

Floor & Decor reviews paint a company that’s legit, large, and often appealing on price, but not especially forgiving once something goes sideways. Based on 1,065 customer reviews across Trustpilot, SiteJabber / SmartCustomer, and PissedConsumer, plus BBB, Reddit, and Floor & Decor’s own policy pages, I’d call it a mixed bet. The selection and prices get real praise. The service trail is rougher than I’d like.

The brand itself is real and established. Floor & Decor was founded in 2000, is headquartered in Atlanta, and operated 270 warehouse-format stores and 5 design studios across 39 states as of December 25, 2025, according to its fiscal 2025 earnings release. That matters because this isn’t a fly-by-night storefront. It’s a major flooring retailer with a lot of footprint, a lot of volume, and enough scale to make both the good and the bad show up in customer reviews.

Recent sentiment leans heavily on Trustpilot’s 71 reviews in the last 12 months, because SiteJabber has no reviews after July 2025 and PissedConsumer has only a handful from the last year. So yes, Floor & Decor can be worth it if you’re price-sensitive and careful. But if you need hand-holding, fast problem resolution, or a generous return experience, the review trail says to be cautious.

What Does Floor & Decor Actually Sell?

Floor and Decor Reviews: Flooring Samples of Tile, Wood and Vinyl

Floor & Decor sells hard-surface flooring and the stuff around it, which sounds obvious until you realize how broad that category gets. The company’s own product pages and store format show the usual suspects: tile, wood, laminate, vinyl, underlayment, trim, adhesives, and installation-related supplies. The NuCore Ludlow rigid core vinyl page is a good example of how they present products, with a listed lifetime residential and 20-year commercial warranty, a 22 mil wear layer, and a price of $3.49 per square foot at the Hilliard, Ohio store.

That mix is part of the appeal. You can walk into one place and compare tile, LVP, and accessories without bouncing between three stores. That convenience matters on remodeling jobs where trim and transitions have to match. The flip side is that the selection can feel a little warehouse-like. Good if you know what you want. Less good if you want guided design help.

Floor & Decor also sells installation and delivery services, but those are not the same as the in-house experience you’d get from a full-service contractor. Installation is handled by a third-party partner called Installation Made Easy, and delivery uses third-party carriers. That structure matters later, because the customer experience often depends on how well those handoffs go.

Is Floor & Decor Good Quality?

Floor and Decor Reviews: Vinyl Plank Shade Variation

Sometimes. Quality looks product-specific, not brand-wide in the way a homeowner might hope. Reviewers praise some items for value and appearance, and Floor & Decor’s own NuCore listing shows the kind of specs shoppers look for, like a 22 mil wear layer and a residential lifetime warranty.

But the review trail also includes complaints about defective planks, damaged boxes, dye lot mismatches, and products that didn’t hold up as expected. On Reddit, one owner described unknowingly buying multicolored vinyl flooring, and another said Floor & Decor sent three different dye lots for one tile order. Those are the kinds of issues that turn a flooring job into a mess, because once material is installed, you’re not just paying for product anymore. You’re paying for labor, time, and the headache of pulling things back up.

There’s also a historical caution flag. Floor & Decor settled a $14 million class action in 2017 over Chinese-made laminate allegedly mislabeled as meeting California formaldehyde limits, without admitting fault. A separate 2022 California Prop 65 settlement totaled $22,500 and required a warning label or reformulation, though the notice we read didn’t name the exact product. It doesn’t define the whole catalog, but it’s one more reason to read labels and spec sheets carefully. What Floor & Decor Customers Actually Report

The complaint pattern is consistent. Most of the pain clusters around people trying to get a human, get a delivery on time, or get a return handled without friction, then the product and warranty complaints sit right behind that.

Of the 442 negative reviews I classified, 186 mentioned customer service or store staff, the biggest bucket by a wide margin. A single review can land in more than one bucket. Customers described being stonewalled, ignored, or bounced around when they needed help. One reviewer wrote, “Jump through hoops to be able to make a phone call and then was hung up on.”

Delivery problems came next with 82 complaints. People reported changing dates, late shipments, and deliveries that didn’t line up with expectations. Floor & Decor says it uses third-party carriers, and curbside delivery means the pallet gets left at the curb for the customer to move. That setup can be fine if you’re ready for it. It’s a pain if you’re not.

Returns and refunds accounted for 75 complaints. The official return policy requires unopened product in original packaging and quantity, with tile bought by the box returned by the box. That’s strict. Some of the friction is built into the policy, but reviewers clearly felt the process was harsher than expected. One said they returned one box of tile and got a $10 store credit on a $24.64 return.

Defective or damaged product showed up 72 times. Those reviews described manufacturing defects, damaged freight, or product that failed soon after install. Once flooring is in, the product cost is only part of the bill.

Order, stock and shade mismatches were reported 56 times. That one matters more than people outside flooring realize. A slight color shift can be obvious across a room. Warranty disputes came up 19 times, and installation partner issues 16 times. The installation complaints often read like a blame loop, where the store points to the contractor and the contractor points back.

On the praise side, reviewers did call out helpful, knowledgeable staff 58 times, large in-stock selection 34 times, and price and value 25 times. The praise is real. There’s just a lot less of it.

What Is Buying From Floor & Decor Like?

Shrink-wrapped pallet of plain cardboard flooring boxes left at the curb at the end of a concrete driveway in front of a house
Floor and Decor Reviews: Curbside Flooring Pallet Delivery

Buying from Floor & Decor can feel efficient at the start and more complicated later. The stores are built for browsing large-format flooring, and if you know your square footage, your trim needs, and your product type, the process can be pretty straightforward. The trouble usually starts after the sale.

The company’s return policy is stricter than a lot of shoppers expect. Returns within 90 days with a receipt are refunded to the original payment method, but later or receipt-less returns are handled at company discretion and go to merchandise credit. Product has to be unopened and in the original packaging and quantity. Cash or check returns over $500 are refunded by mailed check. That’s all spelled out, but it’s easy to miss when you’re focused on finishing a remodel.

Delivery is another place where expectations can get out of sync. Floor & Decor uses third-party carriers, and curbside delivery means exactly that, curbside. If you’re ordering heavy tile or multiple pallets of LVP, you need a plan to move it. The company’s own delivery page makes that clear, but plenty of review complaints suggest customers still get surprised.

Installation is similar. Floor & Decor says installation is handled by a third-party partner, Installation Made Easy. That can work, but it also means your flooring purchase and your installation experience are only loosely connected. If something goes wrong, there’s room for finger-pointing.

How Does Floor & Decor Compare to Home Depot and Lowe’s?

Floor and Decor Reviews: Finished Vinyl Plank Living Room

On scale alone, Floor & Decor is nowhere near the reach of The Home Depot or Lowe’s. The Home Depot operates more than 2,300 stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, while Lowe’s operated 1,759 stores as of January 30, 2026. Floor & Decor had 270 warehouse-format stores and 5 design studios across 39 states as of December 25, 2025. So if you want sheer convenience and backup locations, the big boxes win.

Floor & Decor reviews: how it compares on footprint and installation

Floor & Decor’s niche is flooring, and that focus shows in product depth. For tile, LVP, underlayment, and related materials, it often feels more specialized than a general home center. That’s the main reason people compare Floor & Decor vs Home Depot in the first place. The selection can be better, and the price can look better on a like-for-like item.

The catch is service. I didn’t score Home Depot or Lowe’s for this review, so I can’t tell you their service is better. It’s easy to assume a specialty store automatically means better guidance. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn’t. Floor & Decor’s complaint profile says the service experience can lag behind the product wall.

As for whether Floor & Decor is cheaper than Home Depot, there isn’t a clean universal answer in the evidence here. On the specific NuCore Ludlow product page, the price was $3.49 per square foot at one Ohio store. That’s useful, but it’s not a company-wide comparison. My read: Floor & Decor can be very competitive on flooring pricing, while Home Depot and Lowe’s carry far more than flooring for the rest of the project.

Floor & Decor Pros and Cons

Pros

  • large flooring selection
  • competitive-looking pricing on key products
  • knowledgeable staff gets praised

Cons

  • customer service complaints are frequent
  • delivery and return friction show up a lot
  • warranty and damage disputes can get messy

What Changed Recently

The clearest recent change is in the review stream itself. Trustpilot still had 71 reviews in the last 12 months, but SiteJabber had no reviews after July 2025 and PissedConsumer had only a handful from the last year. So most of what we know about the past year comes from Trustpilot.

Operationally, Floor & Decor also kept expanding. In fiscal 2025, it opened 20 new warehouse stores, even as Q4 fiscal 2025 comparable store sales fell 4.8%. The company is still growing, and nothing in the reviews suggests the extra stores have smoothed out service.

The complaint themes haven’t changed much either. The same issues keep showing up, especially customer service, delivery, returns, and damaged product. When the same problems repeat across years, the cause is usually the process, and a bad month doesn’t explain it.

How to Buy From Floor & Decor Without Getting Burned

Floor and Decor Reviews: Vapor Barrier on a Concrete Slab

If you’re going to shop Floor & Decor, treat it like a project, not a casual cart checkout.

Check the exact product, lot, and shade before you leave the store or accept delivery. Buy the full quantity in one order so it can come from one lot, and measure your square footage before you go. Flooring mismatches are brutal once they’re installed, and the review history shows that stock and shade problems happen often enough to be a real risk.

Keep every receipt, box label, and product tag. The return policy is strict, and unopened original packaging matters. If you think there’s even a small chance you’ll need an exchange, don’t rip open extra boxes until you’re sure the count is right.

Plan for curbside delivery, not white-glove help. If the order is heavy, arrange labor or a truck before the pallet shows up. A lot of project frustration starts right there.

If you’re floating vinyl over a concrete slab, prep matters for the warranty too. The NuCore Ludlow product page recommends an underlayment or a standard 6 mil PE film, and in one Reddit warranty thread commenters expected a claim to be denied over slab prep. A roll of 6 mil polyethylene vapor barrier is cheap insurance.

For installation, ask who the actual installer is, what’s covered, and how warranty claims work before you sign off. Since Floor & Decor uses a third-party installation partner, you want the paperwork clear before the first plank goes down.

And if you’re comparing products, don’t just look at price per square foot. Look at wear layer, warranty language, the finish, and whether the product has a history of complaint reports. The cheapest box can get expensive if the batch is wrong.

Who Should Buy and Who Should Skip

Buy from Floor & Decor if you’re comfortable doing some homework, you want a wide flooring selection, and you’re willing to manage logistics yourself. It can make sense for experienced DIYers, contractors, or homeowners who already know exactly what they need and just want a competitive price on the material.

Skip it if you want a smooth, highly supported purchase with generous returns and easy problem resolution. If your project is on a hard deadline, if you can’t absorb a delivery hiccup, or if you’d be stuck if the product arrives damaged, this probably isn’t the easiest place to shop.

I’d also be cautious if you’re doing a whole-house install and can’t afford a shade mismatch or a warranty fight. That’s where the complaint pattern gets expensive fast. One bad box is annoying. A bad batch can stall the whole job.

The Final Verdict

4.4/10

Mixed, caution advised

Floor & Decor has real strengths, especially selection and apparent value on some flooring lines, but the customer experience is too uneven for a stronger recommendation. The complaint volume around service, delivery, returns, and damaged or mismatched product is high enough that I’d only buy here if you’re prepared to manage the process closely and absorb some friction if things go sideways.

  • Product Quality: 5/10
  • Price Transparency: 6/10
  • Buying Experience: 3/10
  • Warranty and Support: 3/10
  • Complaint Severity: 5/10

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Floor & Decor better than Lowe’s?

It depends on the project. Floor & Decor is a flooring specialist with deep in-stock tile and vinyl, while Lowe’s is a general home center with far more stores, 1,759 as of January 2026. For a flooring-only job, Floor & Decor usually offers more choice. For backup locations and everything else on the list, Lowe’s wins.

What is Floor & Decor’s return policy?

Floor & Decor takes returns within 90 days with a receipt and refunds them to your original payment method. Product must be unopened and in its original packaging and quantity, so tile bought by the box goes back by the box. Later or receipt-less returns are at the company’s discretion and come back as merchandise credit.

Is Floor & Decor good quality?

It varies by product. Its house vinyl brand, NuCore, lists solid specs like a 22 mil wear layer and a lifetime residential warranty. Still, 72 of the 442 negative reviews I classified mention defective or damaged product, and dye lot mismatches come up often. Open and inspect every box before installation starts.

Sources and Method

This review is based on customer feedback and company materials I read across Trustpilot, SiteJabber / SmartCustomer, PissedConsumer, BBB, Houzz, Reddit, Floor & Decor’s return, delivery, installation, and product pages, plus the company’s FY2025 earnings release. The review counts used were 477 Trustpilot reviews through 2026-10, 278 SiteJabber / SmartCustomer reviews from 2016-02 to 2025-07, and 310 PissedConsumer reviews from 2016-08 to 2026-10, for a total of 1,065 reviews across those three platforms. I also used BBB for the Hilliard, Ohio profile, which showed a D- rating and a note about 171 unanswered complaints on that profile page.

What I could not verify: BBB star average, review count, and whether the complaint total is company-wide; Yelp and Google company-wide ratings; restocking fees; Home Depot and Lowe’s flooring return windows; Installation Made Easy warranty terms and complaint record; how warranty claims are actually decided; and product recalls. Recency is also uneven, since SiteJabber has no reviews after July 2025 and PissedConsumer has only a handful from the last 12 months, so recent sentiment leans mostly on Trustpilot’s 71 reviews in the past year. I could not verify which exact product was covered by the 2022 Prop 65 settlement, either.
