The master suite is the crème de la crème of a home, and we hope it’s your room. It’s the biggest room, often with an en suite (although that doesn’t define a master suite), that’s often the most modern and luxurious in design.
And if it has been a long time since you’ve modernized your master suite, 2026 is the year to do it. Read on for the top interior design trends for master suites in 2026.

Comfort Will Be The Focus With The Bed
Comfort will always be the focus, and obviously, that starts and ends with the bed. It’s the anchor of the room and the undisputed focal point of the master suite.

Sometimes, there has been a trend of aesthetic-first, but 2026 is definitely about a comfort-first design.
Luckily, it’s relatively simple, starting with a deeper, more supportive mattress like the Nest Bedding king mattress. King or super king beds are non-negotiables in modern master suites.
Layered bedding for a hotel-like feel is also becoming the norm. A simple hotel-white with a navy blue or sage green throw and contrasting pillows for the white adds some color, or you can do the reverse and go for bold-colored bedding that can actually really work well in a master suite. We’d recommend a deep navy blue or chocolate brown.
Upholstered bed frames are dominating, with soft textures like bouclé, velvet, and linen being the most common for that warmth and softness that modern interiors are trending towards.
For the grand look, add throws, plenty of cushions, and style the bed with multiple textures.
Color-Drenched Bedrooms Are Coming Back
We’re moving away from the neutral palette, although that still does work so well, and into the color-drenching era. It essentially means using one color across the walls, ceilings, woodwork, and sometimes furniture. It means saying goodbye to all-white or grey interiors and towards deep greens, warm browns, terracotta tones, and muted blues.

And we love it. It creates a bold but cohesive look rather than opting for contrasting elements, although we will say the bed is the only exception. If, for example, you go for deep greens, you can buy all white bedding and deep green cushions and throws.
Color drenching works especially well in larger master bedrooms or rooms with a strong natural light, but it does look great in most designs.
Cocoon Bedrooms Will Be a Big Trend
Cocoon bedrooms are a relatively new concept, and one that you might not put together with a master suite that’s typically grand and open, but it does work so well.

Cocooning creates a safe and enclosed feeling, with a focus on a calming environment rather than an overwhelming open space. It’s a trend driven by a focus on mental health and relaxation and a desire to create retreat-like spaces within the home.
To achieve this, you need soft, rounded furniture, layered textiles, a warm, earthy color palette, and plenty of dim, relaxing lighting. You can layer the room with rugs and curtains, but the overall focus should be on thick, rounded fabrics and designs.
Other Trends for 2026
Some of the other trends for 2026 that you’re likely to see include:
- Soft paneled walls with built-in lighting
- Draperies over blinds
- Moody contrast lighting
- Analog master bedrooms
- Warm wood and brass features
And so many others that will redefine decor trends that have dominated master bedroom designs for years.
There are so many easy and great ways for you to change your master bedroom. 2026 definitely is a year for modernizing, and there are plenty of options for creativity and improving comfort.
